Counselling services
Wide Bay Institute of TAFE provides counselling services to assist students in exploring career and training pathways. Whether students need course and career guidance or just someone to talk to in a confidential setting, counsellors are available by appointment.
Counselling services include:
- course and career guidance - alternative pathways to education outcomes, Queensland Tertiary Admission Centre (QTAC) guidance and tertiary entrance
- personal counselling related to Wide Bay TAFE studies - decision making, help with study skills, problem solving and goal setting, stress management and time management
- youth allowance and Austudy information
- accommodation register.
Note: Wide Bay Institute of TAFE counsellors are not crisis or relationship counsellors. Students should seek referral to an appropriate external agency for particular personal situations.

Disability services
Wide Bay Institute of TAFE supports people with a disability. It is recommended that students with a disability contact the disability services officer/counsellor for a confidential appointment prior to enrolment. Discussions regarding program requirements can take place and specific needs can be addressed.

Harassment support
Wide Bay Institute of TAFE strongly supports the rights of students and staff to work in an environment that is free from harassment. Sexual harassment refers to any behaviour of a sexual nature that causes a person to feel offended, intimidated or humiliated.
Wide Bay Institute of TAFE provides the services of a Harassment Officer. This officer is trained to provide information about the range of options available to resolve issues of sexual harassment.

Indigenous student support
The indigenous student support officer assists indigenous students studying either on campus or through other Institute programs. Assistance is available to manage issues such as Abstudy, career counselling and managing study programs.

Learning support - two areas
Learning support can assist all students - full time, part time, any age, any subject area, in a variety of situations with:
- tips on lecture/class note taking
- getting started and writing assignments
- proof reading/editing
- exam preparation
- library research
- computer and search skills
- organising and planning one's time
- setting goals and priorities
- job application preparation
- resume writing.
Disability
The student with a disability may receive additional support from a disability tutor to participate in education and training if the disability is likely to have an impact on their academic outcomes. The disability may include:
