Accredited training
(accredited programs and nationally endorsed training package qualifications)
All certificate, diploma and advanced diploma qualifications offered by TAFE Queensland are nationally recognised or endorsed training. Institutes must be registered to deliver this training prior to accepting enrolments.
When you complete a nationally recognised qualification or statement of attainment it will be recognised by other registered training organisations across Australia. Choosing nationally recognised training delivered by a registered training organisation is important if you want recognition for training you have successfully completed.
Deferment of enrolment
Deferment of an enrolment is not permitted except in exceptional circumstances.
(a) If you are offered a place and cannot undertake your study at that time you will have to re-apply to gain an offer of place when you are able to undertake study.
In exceptional circumstances, you can make an application for deferment to the Institute Director. The application will give due consideration to the following:
(a) you are required to supply evidence of your inability to start/continue your program of study
(b) only in extreme exceptional circumstances will a leave of absence be provided after the start of study
(c) the deferment approval may be conditional, for example pending the continued availability of places in this program of study.
Note: Defermets will not be granted for longer than 12 months.
Full fee training
Institutes also offer training that is not government-subsidised. In this case students are charged for the full cost of training delivery. Concession rates are not available for this training.
Government funded training
The government funds TAFE Queensland to deliver accredited training to meet strategic and regional training priorities. When you enrol in these subsidised programs you will normally be charged a student contribution fee plus a materials fee where applicable. Concession rates may apply to this training. The Institute's capacity to deliver this training is limited by the funding available.
Non-accredited training
Non-accredited training is training that has not been formally recognised by the Training and Employment Recognition Council or other accrediting body. You will not automatically receive recognition of this training from a registered training organisation, however you may be able to use this non-accredited training when applying for recognition of prior learning. Frequently this training does not have any formal assessment.
