Nomination for an Award

The Nomination for an Award [PDF 760kb] form must be completed and signed by the nominee and signed by their teacher, and lodged with information addressing the selection criteria, along with a nomination form which has been completed by the nominee's teacher. Closing date for applications is 9 November 2009.

Student nominees will be interviewed by a selection panel on the basis of outstanding application and attitude which will reflect credit on TAFE, their teacher's and nominee's vocations.

Background

The late Colonel Daniel Edward Evans made provision in his will for an annual educational bursary for an engineering apprentice in the Bundaberg engineering district including sugar mills. The award is known as the William Parry Memorial Award in memory of William Parry who was the Engineer Foreman of the Bundaberg Foundry Company at the turn of the 20th century.

Available funding for the William Parry Memorial Bursary Fund has meant that it has not been possible to offer the bursary every year, with the last being made available in 2007. The Bursary will once again be offered this year and biannually thereafter.

Two awards will be made available to the value of $500.00 each.
