Services
The research and information centres offer a variety of resources, services and facilities to enable you to complete your studies.
Libraries
The Research and Information Centre, incorporating Libraries, includes:
- lending of books, magazines, audio-visual and electronic resources, teaching materials and selected hardware
- inter-campus and inter-library services, includes an on-line loan request for external students
- photocopying
- video viewing
- research assistance
- access to Internet
- advice about referencing and bibliographic citation
- guidance with copyright
- orientation tours
- mail service for remote clients
- use of computer software and hardware
- group and quiet individual study areas.
Electronic learning centres
Services include:
- a selection of self-paced competencies in flexible mode drawn from training programs in both Business Services and Information Technology
- tutorial assistance with self-paced modules
- computer access - allows existing students to practice computer competencies and for work on research and assignments
- printing.
Videoconferencing/streaming
Please contact the relevant research and information centre for information about videoconferencing and videostreaming or any of the other services available.
Lending policy
Conditions:
- members must produce their current student or borrower card in order to borrow
- loan restrictions apply on reference, electronic and course related materials
- overdue notices will be activated to remind borrowers of outstanding loans
- borrowing rights will be suspended if loans are overdue
- in the event of an item being damaged or not returned, charges will be based on the current recommended retail price plus a processing fee of $30.00 per item (includes GST).
Limits:
- students may borrow up to fifteen items
- associate members may borrow up to ten items.
Loan length:
- books and other general material - 28 weeks
- videos and DVDs - 7 days
- magazines, journal issues and serials - 14 days.
Inter-library loans:
- members may place requests for resources located in another campus or TAFE Queensland Institute
- inter-campus loans within various campuses of WideBay TAFE normally take three days
- loans from other Queensland TAFE Institutes may take up to a week. Associate members will be expected to pay any inter-library loan and postal costs.
External and off-campus services:
- WideBay TAFE students who cannot reasonably attend one of its campuses are eligible to submit requests for a mail service. Further details are on the Loan request form for external students [PDF 58kb] [Word 332kb] or use the online version of the form.
- students residing in the cities of Bundaberg, Hervey Bay or Maryborough should go to the nearest WideBay TAFE campus for service.
