Accommodation
There are a number of accommodation options available for your stay in the Wide Bay.
To arrange homestay please complete the accommodation booking form [PDF 46kb] or [Word 346kb] and return to the international student support officer to make the arrangements before you arrive.
Homestay Accommodation
WideBay TAFE coordinates a 'Homestay Accommodation' program. The 'Homestay Accommodation' program provides an ideal opportunity for students to live with an Australian family and to experience Australian culture.
Families who offer accommodation are interviewed, and counselled on supporting International Students living away from home. This ensures that students are offered safe, quality accommodation with full board and meals.
Students are required to pay Homestay Accommodation fees directly to their homestay providers at the beginning of every 2 weeks and to give at least 1 weeks notice before leaving.
Homestay is offered to all international students. The cost is AUD $200 per week and includes:

3 meals a day (breakfast, packed lunch, evening meal);

own room with study facilities;

a bicycle for your use; and
-
some laundry services.
Homestay accommodation does not include:

telephone bills;
-
laundry (you wash your own clothes, bed linen, towels etc);

personal toiletries; and
-
room cleaning (you are required to clean your own room).
Note: Some Homestay providers are willing to provide some of these services listed above for an additional fee.
Rental Accommodation

Independent living either in a house or unit.

Gives you the opportunity to live with friends.

Costs approximately AUD $150 - $500 per week (average AUD $240 per week).
Costs other than rent include:

telephone bills;
-
food;
-
personal toiletries;
-
electricity and water bills; and
-
furniture (if house/unit is not furnished).
There is limited availability in unit rental close to the College. It is usually necessary to sign a lease for 6 to 12 months. Rent is paid in advance and a bond of about 4 weeks rent is paid when you sign your lease. Services including phone, gas, water and electricity are extra and should be budgeted for prior to your arrival at WideBay TAFE.
