TAFE in Schools

Wide Bay Institute of TAFE offers the opportunity for high school students in Year 11 and Year 12 to come to TAFE, in most cases, one day per week to undertake a Certificate I, II or III level qualification.

How do students participate in courses?

Study should be identified in the student's SET Plan. Prior to commencement of the TAFE courses schools provide a letter of endorsement to the student to support their entry into the program.

Students will then be required to enrol by a certain date to secure their place in the program.

What fees do students pay?

School students who undertake a government funded, nationally recognised VET qualification at TAFE as part of their senior studies will pay no tuition or student services fees where the qualification is part of, or progresses towards, a Certificate III or higher level qualification (as per the Queensland Skills Plan). Students will however pay a material fee.

Please note that a number of our programs no longer attract government funding and as such will attract a higher enrolment fee.

These fees must be paid prior to commencement of TAFE program. The letter sent home to students confirming their place in the program explains how they can enrol and pay fees.

Students will require a Student Identification Card at a cost of $11.00. Some courses require students to purchase additional materials such as a text book or a uniform.

Who should I contact for further information?

Please contact your VET Co-ordinator at your school or email SPOL.WBIT@deta.qld.gov.au or phone 07 4120 2476.
