School based apprenticeships and traineeships

Students who are looking for more work related outcomes from their studies may like to consider the possibility of taking up an apprenticeship/traineeship. These apprenticeship/traineeships can be part of one of the above vocational pathways, or in a completely different area of interest.

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships allow students to study for their Queensland Certificate of Education, whilst at the same time undertaking government approved and accredited training qualifications as paid employees.

Students not only receive their QCE or equivalent at the end of year 12, but they also train towards a qualification in their chosen career. This training may occur at work, school, or with a supervising Registered Training Organisation such as a TAFE institute or a private college.

If you have other enquiries regarding school-based apprenticeships or traineeships, please contact your local school career counsellor or your nearest local Department of Education, Training and the Arts office on 1300 369 935.

If you are interested in a school-based traineeship, please tick the appropriate box on your application form.
