Facilities
Horticulture facility
The Walker Street campus features a horticulture facility which is intended for teaching plant industry content. There is adequate space and variety in the physical structures to provide opportunities for groups of students to relate the concepts they have been taught to this more practical setting.
Plants are produced by students by traditional propagation methods and also by micropropagation ("tissue culture"). The functioning production nursery at this campus is accredited with NIASA (Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia). This is a national scheme for production nursery (growers) and growing media (potting mix) businesses which operate in accordance with a set of national 'best practice' guidelines.
